WILMINGTON, N.C. (WWAY) – The WWAY Student Athlete of the Week is Morgan Hill from South Brunswick High School.

This comes on the verge of Hill breaking the county record for career goals in lacrosse. Hill needs 150 to find herself in first place and currently sits at 134. With her current pace of around six goals per game, it could come as soon as next week.

The senior feels the sport of lacrosse has been an inspiration for her and has helped Hill improve her social skills.

“Just the team bonding, associating with people,” Hill said. “Gets people out of their shell. I’m not very good at talking to people, so this really brought me out of my shell. They’re the best. They’re always lifting each other up, supporting each other. That’s how we’ve gotten so far in our season. It doesn’t matter about a win or a loss. As long as we’re together and we’re uplifting each other, that’s all that matters to me.”

Hill will play college lacrosse next year at Division II Lander University. She hopes to become a criminal psychologist.
