Year after earthquake, Wilmington company plans return trip to Haiti
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — In the wake of the Haiti earthquake one year ago, we told you about a Wilmington prosthetics company that made its way to Haiti to help amputees.
Atlantic Prosthetics went to Haiti in April to help get victims back on their feet… literally. Now, a year after the quake, president Jeff McDonald says the company is planning another trip to continue helping those in need.
“Right now we have a tentative plan to go back in March,” McDonald said. “There are more people lining up is the way we understand it Right now we’re going back down with a crew, a medical mission team, and we’re hoping that we can go back down and follow the people that we’ve seen the first trip and then pick up some new people and hopefully give them some care. There’s just so many victims of this quake, we really can’t conceive it.”
McDonald said they can use all the donations for their trip that they can get, and any amount makes a difference. He said there are still many people who need their help, now it’s just a matter of getting down there.
