YWCA hosts feast on the Mayflower
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The YWCA of the Lower Cape Fear’s after school program hosted the Thanksgiving Feast on the Mayflower earlier today.
YWCA staff filled an empty Mayflower moving truck with a buffet of food for the feast that was given by the children and their families.
“This is our tenth year,” YWCA Childcare Director Sarah Flaherty said. “Murray Transfer and Storage lends us the truck every year free of charge for the kids to come out and feast together.”
“The kids enjoy every Thanksgiving here,” Harriet Garrett, a grandmother at the event, said. “We think it’s what we should do.”
The YWCA staff estimates they fed about 65 kids today. Theysaid it was an opportunity for everyone to come together.
