videoFormer Laney High basketball standout Tamera Young saved the season for the WNBA Chicago Sky on Monday. Young made a basket that forced the game into overtime. Chicago ended up winning the playoff game in double overtime. Coincidentally, the UNCW men's soccer team also won in double overtime on Monday.

NY Giants acquire former New Hanover Wildcat Nick Becton; plus more weekend sports!

Former New Hanover Wildcat Nick Becton has a new home in the NFL. The New York Giants picked up Becton on Sunday. Former New Hanover Wildcat Trevon Brown scored his first college touchdown on Saturday. Plus more, including sports from UNCW and Cape Fear Community College.

Saturday sports recap: Wilmington Tigers & Hammerheads both win & more

The Wilmington Tigers are now 3-2 in the Mason Dixon League after a shutout home win on Saturday. The Wilmington Hammerheads despite loads of chaos at the end of the game pulled out a dramatic late night win in California. Saturday also featured a few high school football games.

Hammerheads win road opener; UNCW soccer shuts out NC State

It may prove to be the most exciting match of the season. Even if it's not the Wilmington Hammerheads edged Pittsburgh on Saturday night in a game that featured a controversial finish. In exhibition soccer play the UNCW men's soccer team shutout NC State on Saturday.

Alge Crumpler headlines 2014 class for Greater Wilmington Sports Hall of Fame

videoOn Sunday, May 4, the Greater Wilmington Sports Hall of Fame will welcome the 2014 inductees into membership at their annual banquet at the Burney Center on the campus of UNCW. The Reception and Silent Auction will begin at 5 p.m. followed by the induction ceremony and dinner at 6:30 p.m. The annual golf tournament will be held Saturday, May 3.
