On Thursday on WWAY heard from UNC Tar Heel basketball coach Roy Williams. His nationally ranked squad will host East Carolina on Saturday. It'll be the first game ever for ECU against UNC in Chapel Hill. On top of that we also checked out high school hoops on Thursday between South Brunswick & Cape Fear Academy. Full story...

On Wednesday the CAA announced a move to Baltimore for future CAA men's basketball tournaments starting in 2014. Terry Holland is about to retire as the director of athletics at East Carolina. East Carolina will soon begin a search for a successor to athletic director Terry Holland. The school said Wednesday that Holland, a 2010 inductee to the Greater Wilmington Sports Hall of Fame, plans to transition into an emeritus role once his replacement is hired. Full story...

On Tuesday on WWAY we checked out high school basketball action from around the region. This includes the first victory of the season for the South Columbus Stallions, another win this month for 2-A North Brunswick over 4-A Laney and a snapped losing streak by the defending 4-A state champion New Hanover Wildcats. Wilmington's Jay Ross is back on an NFL active roster. Former Hoggard standout Jonathan Cooper keeps raking in post season awards. Full story...

Veteran girls basketball coach Karlyn Stephens has resigned from East Columbus High School in order to accept a job at Southeastern Community College. Stephens will coach the softball team at SECC. She'll also be a physical education instructor. Monday was a light night for high school hoops, but we still managed to find action on the hardwood. Full story...

On our 6pm sports on Sunday we checked out the "Holiday Hoopla" at Legion Stadium. The Wilmington Hammerheads pro soccer squad held a tryout, a free youth clinic and a sale on team merchandise. On Sunday the Carolina Panthers more than held their own against the team with the best record in the NFC. We also provided a recap of Saturday's ACC-CAA showdown between UNCW & Georgia Tech.
