It was a close Waccamaw Conference game between North Brunswick and Whiteville, when a hard foul changed the atmosphere of the crowd in Leland. Chaos erupted. Fans had to leave in order for the basketball game to be completed. Full story...

UNCW was full of screaming, enthusiastic school children on Thursday. Nearly 5,000 spectators, mainly school children, packed into Trask Coliseum in order to watch the UNCW women's basketball team play NC A&T. The Aggies left town with a victory though as the Seahawks fall to 1-10. Tom O'Brien left Raleigh last month, but he's going to stay in the ACC. Plus more! Full story...

On Wednesday the UNC Wilmington men's basketball team lost their first home game of the season. The Towson Tigers got off to a great start. UNCW made a valiant comeback, but it was too little too late in the CAA opener for the Seahawks. On Wednesday we also had high school hoops on WWAY. The West Brunswick boys knocked off North Brunswick. West Bladen edged South Brunswick. Full story...

Despite more than 3,300 cheering Seahawk fans, the cash box was not overflowing at UNC Wilmington tonight. It was Business Appreciation Night at Trask Coliseum, and members of the business community were invited to enjoy a game on the house. Full story...

The Leon Brogden Holiday Basketball Tournament wrapped up on Saturday at UNCW. Ashley High School claimed the first ever girls championship. The Eagles beat Laney 39-37. While it was an in-town team taking home the girls tourney, Hoke County beat Hoggard 60-49 to win the boys championship. Full story...

Thursday's action from the Leon Brogden Holiday Basketball Tournament is in the books. All four of the girls teams from Wilmington won. This season the UNCW men's basketball team has two players on the team that call Wilmington home. Former Hoggard Viking Zack Allen and former New Hanover Wildcat Freddie Jackson both reside in the Port City. Allen is a walk-on. He's in his first season at UNCW. Allen has only played in one game this season, but that may change soon if he keeps knocking down shots in practice from behind the arc. Full story...
