video We've been to more than our fair share of baseball games here at WWAY, but we've never seen anything like this. The Shark Tank turned out to be a battlefield on Thursday night. Heat scorch the Thunder to claim NBA title

"Not one, not two, not three, not four, not five, not six and not seven." For LeBron James and the Miami Heat it's now one down and seven to go. Miami defeated Oklahoma City in game five of the NBA Finals on Thursday to claim the first title in the James, Wade, Bosh "Big 3 Era".

Livengood named Laney head baseball coach

UNCW graduate Aaron Livengood has been named the head baseball coach at Laney High School. Livengood replaces veteran coach Vern Barker who recently announced his retirement.

NCAA bans UNCW men's basketball team from postseason play

video On Wednesday the UNCW men's basketball team received news it didn't want to hear. The UNCW men’s basketball team will not be allowed to compete in postseason play in the 2012-13 season due to low Academic Progress Rate (APR) scores. The NCAA made that announcement on Wednesday.

Mike Dunlap named Bobcats head coach

Team owner Michael Jordan did not attend the news conference, but the Bobcats still have a new head coach. St. John's assistant coach Mike Dunlap was introduced on Wednesday as the new head coach of the NBA Charlotte Bobcats.

WWAY's Tuesday night sports - June 19

video Josh Rusk has been named the head football coach at South Brunswick High School. Rusk replaces Roman Kelly as the Cougars head coach. The Wilmington Sharks got back into the win column on Tuesday. We've got a complete game recap along with highlights on that. In the NBA Miami has a 3-1 lead now in the NBA best of seven finals.

Cowboys cut TE George Bryan

Former New Hanover High School standout George Bryan has been released from the Dallas Cowboys. Bryan signed a free agent contract with the Cowboys in late April shortly after the NFL Draft.

WWAY's Monday night sports - June 18

video On Monday we found out former UNCW men's basketball coach Jerry Wainwright is headed a bit closer to home. Wainwright has decided to leave Fresno State. Congratulations are in order for the UNCW surf team. They finished in third place at the national collegiate surfing championship. On top of that a UNCW Seahawk and a former Laney Buccaneer haunted the Wilmington Sharks on Monday night.
