video The Wilmington Hammerheads didn't score first, but they did emerge victorious on Friday night at Legion Stadium against the Richmond Kickers. On Friday we also found out a handful of NFL pros will be coming to Wilmington next month to play basketball against the Wilmington PD.

WWAY's Thursday night sports - June 14

video In the NBA Finals it's now one game apiece for Miami & Oklahoma City. The Wilmington Sea Dawgs appearance in the playoffs turned out to be a short one. Cary defeated Wilmington on Thursday night. The Wilmington Sharks exploded for nine runs in the first inning of game one of a doubleheader on Thursday, but the Sharks only managed to split their doubleheader.

WWAY's Wednesday night sports - June 13

video It's do or die time for the Wilmington Sea Dawgs basketball team. The Dawgs begin post-season play on Thursday night on the road in Cary. A win will move the Dawgs into the TRBL championship game on Saturday. We caught up with team members on Wednesday. Click play video to see our report. On Wednesday we also stopped by the Shark Tank for summer league baseball action.

UNCW's Miller, Bass named to top CAA posts

UNCW Chancellor Gary Miller and Athletic Director Jimmy Bass have been named to top posts in the Colonial Athletic Association. Miller will begin a two-year term as Chair of the Council of Presidents. Bass will start a two-year term as conference President.

Podium finish for Wilmington based race team

A Wilmington based race team is certainly turning heads on the F1000 Championship Series. In fact Richard Franklin secured his first SCCA Pro Racing podium finish on Sunday in New Jersey.

WWAY's Tuesday night sports - June 12

video On Tuesday night the Wilmington Sharks improved to 8-5 on the season with a road win over the Morehead City Marlins. We also showcased the Big Rock Blue Marlin Fishing Tournament on Tuesday. Plus, game one of the NBA Finals is complete. The Thunder beat the Heat 105-94.

ECU football coach speaks to elementary school grads
