A report on academic misconduct in regard to athletics at the University of North Carolina will be released on Wednesday. Freddie Jackson stole the show at UNCW's Midnite Madness. We had quite an evening of high school football on WWAY's 5th Quarter. We showcased New Hanover's victory over Laney. We featured East Bladen senior Farrell Murchison. He broke the career rushing record for East Bladen Friday. Whiteville's Terrin Manning had 15 carries, 5 touchdowns and 330 yards on Friday. Plus more! Full story...

Nationally ranked UNCW lost in men's soccer on Wednesday night in Wilmington to Elon. The UNCW volleyball did not have any issues on Wednesday though. The Seahawk volleyball squad knocked off the defending CAA champs with a sweep at Hanover Hall. Plus more! Full story...

The football squad at Laney High is this week's WWAY Farm Bureau Insurance at Mayfaire Team of the Week recipient. Laney is currently 3-0 in league play in the Mideastern Conference with recent victories over West Brunswick, South Brunswick and Topsail. Full story...

Former South Columbus Stallion football standout Ethan Farmer says the UNC Tar Heel defense is getting better. Farmer and the Tar Heels host Georgia Tech on Saturday. It's now official. WWAY Full Court Press analyst Chasity Melvin is a member of the NC State Athletic Hall of Fame. Melvin was inducted over the weekend in Raleigh. Of course, we had to make the trip in order check out some of the excitement. Full story...

NC State head coach Dave Doeren has announced that a number of student-athletes will be suspended from Saturday's upcoming football showdown against Louisville, following a game with BB guns at their off-campus residence last week.
