For a variety of reasons Buzz Peterson appears to be more relaxed in Charlotte working with the NBA Charlotte Hornets than he did as the head basketball coach at UNC Wilmington. Kevin Motsinger has decided to leave after nine years as the head football coach of the New Hanover Wildcats. This was a surprise announcement that caught the Wildcat community off guard due to the success Motsinger had during his time at New Hanover. Ashley High also has an opening for a new head football coach. Mike Propst, after a winless season in 2014, won't return for a second season. Full story...

It's going to be hard for the West Brunswick boys basketball team to win all of their games this season, but so far that's been the case for the Trojans. This includes a nail biter on Tuesday on the road against New Hanover. We had game action and post game reaction from Brogden Hall plus highlights from Hoggard-Laney and Wilmington Christian-Cape Fear Academy. Two basketball teams from Bladen County entered Monday's play undefeated, but there's only one undefeated squad now. The Trask boys basketball team knocked off previously undefeated West Bladen on Monday. We were there to check it out. We also showcased the East Bladen girls. The shots were clearly falling for UNCW on Monday night against the Northeastern Huskies. The UNCW Seahawks shot 54% for the game on the road. That was good enough to secure the first CAA victory for first year head coach Kevin Keatts. Full story...

The Leon Brogden Holiday Basketball Tournament is over after three days of competition on the campus of UNCW. We had loads of highlights on WWAY from the games that were played on Tuesday. This includes the boys championship game between Bullis High vs. Ashbrook High and the girls title game between New Hanover and Hoggard, plus even more from the Brogden along with bonus coverage from a tournament featuring West Bladen High.
