Mike Propst has been named head football coach at Ashley High School. Propst was the defensive coordinator at Ashley in 2011 and 2012. He was an assistant coach at Ashley for football and basketball in 2013. Full story...

The search at Ashley High School for a new head boys basketball coach is over. Guthrie has been the jv boys basketball coach at New Hanover the last three seasons. He replaces David Rutledge. Day one of the Fred Lynch Invitational is complete. Six different venues are being used in New Hanover County to showcase this three day high school basketball summer event. Our coverage includes Quate McKinzie's return in a Pender High uniform. Earlier this month McKinzie received his first college scholarship offer from UNCW's Kevin Keatts. Full story...

The Fred Lynch Invitational tips off on Monday at six different locations in New Hanover County. 50 high school basketball teams will be competing in the three day event. The Ashley boys basketball team won't be competing in the event as the Screaming Eagles are in the middle of a coaching change. Ashley will formally introduce their new boys basketball coach on Monday though. Plus more! Full story...

Hoggard graduate Joe O'Donnell picked up his second win of the season on the mound on Thursday for the Wilmington Sharks. In front of one of the largest crowds of the season the Sharks beat Morehead City. Michael Jordan won't be suiting up for the Charlotte Hornets, but his team will at least look sharp. The Hornets unveiled their new uniforms on Thursday. In Pinehurst a 6th grader won over the crowd with an impressive round at the U.S. Open and a few licks of ice cream during her media conference. The Kevin Keatts era at UNCW will begin this fall without Luke Hager and Nate Anderson. Their scholarships have been rescinded by the university in an apparent move to make room for new players. Former Laney Buccaneer Tamera Young helped Chicago snap a losing skid for Chicago in the WNBA. In baseball the Wilmington Sharks did not end their skid on Wednesday. Full story...

The Wilmington Hammerheads FC hosted their Major League Soccer affiliate Toronto FC in a friendly match on Wednesday night at Legion Stadium. Former New Hanover Wildcat soccer standout Ross Tomaselli made his Hammerheads debut in Toronto's 2-1 victory. Full story...
