Laney and Hoggard are the only two high school football teams in our neck of the woods with undefeated records. Both teams are 5-0, but only one will be 6-0. The Bucs and Vikings will square off on Friday night at Hoggard High School. Full story...

The Wilmington Sharks will have a home at Buck Hardee Field through the 2016 baseball season. There's an option for five more years after that. The Sharks also have a new head coach. In fact he's a native of Columbus County. Full story...

The High School Football Team of the Week award will be presented during our 6pm newscast every Wednesday during the football season. The Battleship North Carolina is sponsoring our High School Football Team of the Week award. 4 Seasons Trophy Shop provides a plaque for every team. West Brunswick is this week's recipient.

The South Carolina Gamecocks made a formal offer to former West Brunswick Trojan Alfy Hill earlier this week. The former Trojan defensive lineman and linebacker won't be eligible to play division one football until 2013 though after stops at Alabama, East Carolina, Itawamba CC and Los Angeles Valley CC where Hill currently plays. Ashley senior Mason Boyles hasn't been able to compete on the high school level since the spring of his sophomore year due to a suspension that centered around his residency. He's back in rare form along with New Hanover distance runner Shelby Howell. She's not running against the girls. Howell is competing against the boys instead. Full story...
