Week 3 of the high school football season is complete. Check out Friday's 5th Quarter with John & Trot. The New Hanover-Hunt game had an exciting finish. That was also the case for Trask-West Columbus. Friday's 5th Quarter also featured an impressive flea flicker on Laney's first play from scrimmage. Wilmington resident Tamera Young is definitely in uncharted territory. Her team earned a spot in the WNBA Finals on Wednesday night. Orlando City was dubbed the 2014 USL PRO regular season champion following Wednesday night's scoreless draw against the Wilmington Hammerheads FC at Legion Stadium. Fantasy football is the most popular fantasy sport. There will be millions playing nationwide over the next few months. Thousands are expected to play this season in the Wilmington area. In fact, bars in the Port City that typically don't cater to the sports crowd, are starting to cater to fantasy football players for draft night. We had high school soccer action from Bladen County on Tuesday night on WWAY between East Bladen and North Brunswick. The Eagles have only played six times this season. Four of the games ended in a deadlock. A handful of area football teams are ranked in the first AP high school football poll this season. Plus more! Full story...

Former Laney High basketball standout Tamera Young saved the season for the WNBA Chicago Sky on Monday. Young made a basket that forced the game into overtime. Chicago ended up winning the playoff game in double overtime. Coincidentally, the UNCW men's soccer team also won in double overtime on Monday. Full story...
