One charged in crash between Raleigh city bus, car

RALEIGH, NC (AP) — Authorities say a collision between a Raleigh city bus and a car knocked over a power pole and closed several lanes near the state Capitol.

The Raleigh Police Department said the Go Raleigh bus and another vehicle collided shortly after 9 a.m. Monday.

Police spokeswoman Laura Hourigan said several people were injured, although none seriously.

A police news release says the driver of the car in the accident, 63-year-old Joseph Mederious Craveiro, faces several charges including hit and run, driving with license revoked and driving while impaired.

Several phone listings for Craveiro rang unanswered or were disconnected.

Photos posted online by WTVD-TV in Raleigh show the bus skidded onto a church lawn, and traffic lights were dangling close to the pavement after the pole was knocked over.
