$1 million bond for ‘career felon’


SHALLOTTE, NC (WWAY) – Shallotte police say a career felon is behind bars, facing several drug charges.

Police say William Craig McKoy went to Coastal Drugs on Main St. three separate times in July with a fake prescription. The first time, he got away with 120 Oxycontin and 10 fentanyl patches. He got the same amount of prescription drugs during a second visit. Police say the third time he showed up with a fake prescription was on Friday, when he made off with more Oxycontin.

McKoy is charged with 21 felony drug charges. They include 6 counts of trafficking opium or heroin, 5 counts of conspiracy to sell or deliver a schedule 2 controlled substance, 5 counts of obtaining controlled substance by fraud or forgery, and 5 counts of possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver schedule 2 controlled substance.

He is in jail under a $1 million bond.
