2 charged in Fayetteville man’s death almost 6 years ago

FAYETTEVILLE, NC (AP) — Fayetteville police say two people arrested in the 2010 death of a man are the victim’s wife and the man with whom she was having an extramarital affair at the time of the death.

Authorities said in a news release Sunday that Kenneth Green was found shot and stabbed to death on May 31, 2010. Police say they learned the victim’s wife, 44-year-old Denise Green, was having an affair with 34-year-old Robert Hernandez.

Hernandez was with murder in October 2010. Those charges were dismissed in 2013 for lack of evidence.

Police say they found additional evidence, and Hernandez and Denise Green were arrested Friday on first-degree murder and other charges.

They are being held without bond at the Cumberland County Detention Center. It wasn’t clear Sunday if they have attorneys.
