2 killed in NC house collapse caused by landslide
WATAUGA COUNTY, NC (WSOC) — Two people were killed Wednesday afternoon in Watauga County after a landslide destroyed the home they were in, officials said.
Authorities told Channel 9 that the landslide ruptured a gas line at the home on Pine Ridge Drive, possibly causing an explosion resulting in the collapse of the house at about 5 p.m.
Several agencies responded to the pile of rubble in the Heavenly Mountain Community. First responders dug through the rubble and found two people dead.
The names of the victims have not been released.
