2-year-old South Carolina boy dies after being hit by pickup

WOODRUFF, S.C. (AP) — A 2-year-old boy has died after pickup truck owned by a family member backed over the toddler in the backyard of his home.

Spartanburg County Coroner Charles Clevenger said in a news release that Landon Bryce Holcombe of Woodruff died around 3:30 p.m. Monday.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol told news outlets that 26-year-old Joseph David Holcombe was driving the truck. No charges have been filed.

Neither the patrol nor the coroner provided the relationship between the driver and the victim.
