Eastern Carolina’s EMS releases 20 water safety tips

As Memorial Day has came to an end and the scorching sun raises the temperature, people head for their swimming pools and other open water, such as rivers, lakes and dams, to cool down, and the local emergency medical services (EMS) prepares for any eventuality. In an attempt to prevent accidents, Eastern Carolina’s EMS Association is educating the public about water-related safety precautions.

Bridge repair update

Lanes on the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge were back open Monday evening after being shut down as planned this morning. Crews took away lane closure signs around 3 p.m.
