Jordon Talley hopes to add one more title to his career

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The UNCW Men’s Basketball team prepares for the postseason this weekend looking for their third straight CAA title. Senior Jordon Talley has been part of the change in culture at UNCW that has led to their titles and played a major role in the turnaround.

“It’s a good feeling,” Talley said. “When I got here, there wasn’t a lot of winning, not a lot of fans, so it’s great to turn it around and keep it going.”
Of all the pulse-pounding battles and sweet feelings of celebrations throughout his four years, there’s a clear front-runner as to what is Talley’s favorite memories from his career.

“Definitely the CAA Titles. It was a great feeling winning with my teammates. But walking on that NCAA court too, those lights are different. It’s a different feeling, I’ve got to feel it again. I used to always fill out my brackets as a kid. Now when you’re in the bracket, it’s a great feeling.”

If he wants to feel it again, it’s going to take one final CAA Tournament run by the Seahawks to get themselves in the tournament. In order to do that, he’s been working on his play since the offseason to get his game to the next level.

“My shot, definitely my shot,” Talley said. “I tried to perfect my craft with my shot by working on my form and shooting. I didn’t look at anyone else’s form, I just wanted to get the repetition and just perfect my form.”

His constant work has payed off. The stats on Talley don’t lie. He started in his freshman and senior seasons and came off the bench in his sophomore and junior campaigns, but his scoring totals leave him top-ten all-time at UNCW.

This season is the last time he will play for UNCW, but he’ll always appreciate it.

“It means a lot, it happened quick though,” Talley said. “It seems like a couple years ago I was a freshman. Now I’m senior.”

It’s truly hard to believe just how fast it went. But it’s not over yet. For his final run, he wants to go out the way he came in; by winning.

“My expectations never change; CAA title and make a run in the tournament,” Talley said. “Same thing.”
