WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — In just a few months, nine “Live + Work” units will be available for rent in Wilmington’s latest urban mixed-use project.
Tuesday morning, cranes lifted and stacked the second level of shipping containers in The Cargo District, off 16th and Queen Streets.
According to a release, when finished, the nine stand-alone apartments will be two stories tall and approximately 600 sq. feet each. Each container apartment is available for rent at
$1050 per month, which includes water, sewer, and trash, as well as basic internet service.
Each unit will have a full-size kitchen with a reverse osmosis filtration system, living room, bedroom, bathroom, walk-in closet, washer and dryer, private balcony, paved patio, small garden, and off-street parking.
Developer L.S. Smith Inc. is also planning 50 to 70 additional one to two bedroom apartments constructed from over 200 containers.
“We’ve had a tremendous response from the public on this first phase of apartments. We are accepting deposits and early reservations at this time” Leslie Smith, owner of L.S. Smith, said.
The Cargo District is also planning a coffee shop and a food truck park.
