22nd Annual Pleasure Island Seafood Blues & Jazz Festival kicks off
KURE BEACH, NC (WWAY) — It’s time again for Pleasure Island to shell out some seafood, blues and jazz fun.
The 22th Annual Pleasure Island Seafood, Blues and Jazz Festival kicked off Saturday at Fort Fisher Air Force Recreation Area in Kure Beach. It’s two days of live jazz and blues performances on two stages, and some of the best seafood the area has to offer.
Dr. John and the Nite Trippers and Shemekia Copeland is headlining this year, and the festival is expected to bring out hundreds of people from all over.
Suzi Mclean lives in Wilmington, but loves to come to Pleasure Island for this event to listen to good music and have a fun time with friends.
“I’ve been coming here over the past 3 years and I love it every time,” said Mclean. “I love the casualness of the environment. I love to be able to hoop out here and enjoy the seafood.”
The event includes arts & crafts, wine tasting, and a Kidz Zone featuring magicians, juggling acts, clowns and more.
The festival continues through Sunday.
