29-year-old tourist dies in Bogue Sound
EMERALD ISLE, Carteret County (WCTI) — A 29-year-old tourist from out of state was pronounced dead after bystanders pulled him from the Bogue Sound on Friday, according to Captain Stuart Gilgo with the Emerald Isle Fire Department.
Captain Gilgo said they received a call around 2:11 p.m. about the man near the Emerald Isle bridge.
The Emerald Isle Fire Department, Emerald Isle EMS and the U.S Coast Guard responded.
When they arrived, they found friends of the tourist performing CPR on him, according to Captain Gilgo.
Crews then took him by boat to the U.S. Coast Guard Station and then to Carteret Health Care, where he was pronounced dead.
