3 arrested at checkpoint, deputies recover stolen guns, cash
BLADEN COUNTY, NC — Stolen weapons and cash found in two separate cars during a checkpoint in Bladen County ends with three men behind bars.
Early Sunday morning, deputies set up a license checking station on Twisted Hickory road near Spivey Currie Drive. It led to the recovery of three stolen weapons and seizures of over $6,000 in cash.
Sheriff James McVicker said a car saw the checkpoint and fled, resulting in deputies pursuing it. The driver then abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot, leaving behind an AR 15 that was reported stolen in Columbus County.
McVicker said shortly after that, another vehicle attempted to evade the check station. Deputies found two stolen semi-automatic handguns, a concealed handgun stolen from from Columbus County and $6,000 in cash in the car.
McVicker said a short time later another car tried to avoid the check station by pulling into a driveway of a residence. Deputies found two stolen semi-automatic handguns, a concealed handgun and over $6,000 in cash. Both handguns were also reported stolen from Columbus County.
Bryan Daquan Marlowe, 21, was charged with two counts of Felonious Possession Stolen Firearm, one count of Carrying a Concealed Weapon and one count of Felonious Possession of Schedule II Narcotic. His bond was set at $31,000.
Marty Davene Soles, 24, was charged with Simple Possession Schedule VI Controlled Substance, Possession of Marijuana Paraphernalia, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, 2 counts of Felony Possession Stolen Firearm. Bond was set at $22,250.
Scotty Nealy, 23, was charged with Possession of a Firearm by Felon, 2 counts of Felony Possession of a Stolen Firearm, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Resisting Arrest. His bond was set at $32,000.
