Barbie is getting new body types

(CNN) – Girls and women don’t come in one shape, and now Barbie won’t either.

The famed doll made by Mattel will now come in four body types, seven skin tones with 22 eye colors and 24 hairstyles. The company announced the new line of Barbie dolls on its website today.

Mattel says the changes are the most dramatic ever made to Barbie since she hit store shelves in 1959.

The revamped Barbie line comes after years of criticism over Barbie’s unrealistic proportions and standard of beauty for girls to try to meet.
