Funding passed for Legion Stadium Turf Field Replacement Project

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Funding for synthetic turf replacement at Legion Stadium in Wilmington has been given the green light.
Wilmington City Council approved funding for the turf replacement at their meeting Tuesday night. The project will cost $690,000 with the city, county and school district splitting the costs equally at $230,000. The original turf was installed in spring of 2011, with a life-span of 8 to 11 years.
The project is expected to begin work in the spring.
