Brunches to open new location in Carolina Beach according to mayor

CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WWAY) — The mayor of Carolina Beach announced a popular Wilmington brunch spot is coming to Pleasure Island.

Carolina Beach Mayor Lynn Barbee posted on Facebook Monday morning saying, “It’s been tough keeping this one quiet, but with permission from the owner I can now say: Brunches is coming to CB!”

Brunches first opened in 2019 at Mayfaire. The restaurant then opened a second location on Randall Drive in 2020. Then, Brunches opened a third location at the Pointe at Barclay in 2022. 

Barbee said a few weeks ago, he, Deb LeCompte, and Carolina Beach Town Council met with the principals of the Brunches restaurants, Danny McPherson and Tyler Smith to introduce them to Carolina Beach. They operate three locations in New Hanover County. Barbee said principals Danny McPherson, Tyler Smith, and Johnny Little have stressed their philosophy of integrating into the community and the importance of being good community stewards. All three are local residents.

Barbee said the new Brunches location is planned at corner of Carl Winner Drive and Lake Park Blvd. in the former Sharkey’s location and open this summer.  He said they plan further announcements in the coming days.
