WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The 9th annual Coastal Duck Derby is taking place Friday at Jungle Rapids.

The evening begins at 5:30 p.m., with admission being free and open to the public.

Attendees can look forward to raffle prizes and a splash pad for children to enjoy. The main event will feature a race of 20,000 rubber ducks down the water slide and through the lazy river, with the first duck to cross the finish line securing a prize for its adopter.

The grand prize winner will have their choice of one of three experiences: a trip for two to Hawaii, London/Edinburgh, or tickets to Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour. Each prize package includes airfare and accommodations, ensuring a memorable and luxurious getaway. The winner need not be present or a resident of North Carolina to claim their prize.

Ducks can be adopted for only $5 each HERE before they sell out, offering everyone a chance to participate in this exciting event.

All proceeds from the Duck Derby benefit Coastal Horizons’ Crisis Intervention Services. These services include:

Rape Crisis Centers in New Hanover, Brunswick, Pender, and Duplin Counties
Open House Youth Shelter for youth ages 6 to 18
Transitional Living Programs for young people up to the age of 22, including a program for pregnant or parenting young mothers
