Local non-profit announces Rental Assistance Program for work force members and public workers
NEW HANOVER COUNTY (WWAY) — A local non-profit announced their plans on Thursday to help combat an issue here in the Cape Fear that affects a wide range of residents.
After receiving $500,000 from New Hanover County Commissioners, New Hope CDC, along with New Beginning Christian Church, is aiming to address the issue.
“This is announcing that the second round of the rental assistance program for work force or public workers,” said Rob Campbell, CEO of New Hope CDC.
Campbell said that the housing will be designated for workers such as teachers, police officers, and firefighters. Campbell says the 10-acre, 128-unit property, which will be built in New Hanover County, is long-overdue.
“This group is so use to not getting any help, they need to know this is for you,” Campbell said.
New Hanover County Commissioner Jonathan Barfield expressed his appreciation for the partnership and acknowledged the need for this type of housing.
“To assist individuals that need help with rent is just outstanding. I’m looking forward to seeing all the families who will be served, to be served.”
