Cape Fear Camera Club to exhibit winning works in Wilmington
WILMINGTON, NC — The Images of Distinction exhibit returns to downtown Wilmington this week, showcasing the best work of the Cape Fear Camera Club.
The exhibit opens Friday at the Burgwin-Wright House, beginning with a reception from 6 to 9 p.m. where visitors can meet photographers and view their work. The showcase will remain on display through Sept. 20.
Founded in 1987 by R.J. Thompson, the Cape Fear Camera Club has grown from just eight members meeting at the New Hanover County Library to more than 160 active photographers today. Members range in skill level and participate in workshops, monthly competitions, and events that often feature visiting experts.
Brad Johnson, who spoke with WWAY about the upcoming exhibit, said the photos on display represent winning entries from the club’s competitions throughout the year.
“They’re an amazing group of photographs,” Johnson said. “We definitely have a lot of nature, landscapes and portraits, but also unique topics from our monthly challenges, like boardwalks or back alleys.”
Admission to the exhibit is free, and the public is encouraged to attend. More information about the Cape Fear Camera Club can be found at capefearcameraclub.org.
