Winners announced from 12th annual ‘Taste of Wrightsville Beach’

WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC (WWAY) — The 12th Annual Taste of Wrightsville Beach was held on Saturday, and the winners have been announced.

Organizers say this year’s event was the best one yet and the food, beer, wine and spirts were outstanding.

The event started 13 years ago to celebrate the diverse culinary options on the island. Organizers say it also serves as a reminder that the restaurants need support during the winter months when the tourists are gone.

The full list of winners:

  • Best Overall Savory: Solstice Kitchen and Cocktails – braised lamb ragu with gnocchi
    • Runner up savory: Ceviche’s – burnt ends pork belly and hot honey arepa
  • Best Overall Sweet: Bluewater Waterfront Grill – family recipe Nan’s pumpkin crisps
    • Runner up overall sweet: The Green House – spiced sweet potato tres leches cake with maple whipped cream and pecan praline crumble
  • Best Tasting Savory: Poe’s Tavern Wrightsville Beach – in house double ground beef slider with potato bun, grille chorizo sausage, chimichurri and smoked gouda cheese
  • Best Tasting Sweet: The Green House Restaurant – spiced potato tres leches cake with maple whipped cream and pecan praline crumble
  • Best Presentation Savory: Dockside Restaurant & Bar – smoke salmon crostini
  • Best Presentation Sweet: Sinful Cupcakes Custom Cupcakes – handcrafted gourmet treats made with bold flavors, creative fillings and silky frostings
  • Most Creative Savory: Trailborn Surf & Sound – smoked duck breast apricot and fig marmalade and juniper berries
  • Most Creative Sweet: Beach Bagels & Subs – ILM creme pie
  • People’s Choice Savory: Solstice Kitchen and Cocktails
