Jean Beasley founder of the Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Rescue has died

SURF CITY, NC (WWAY) — The Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Rescue and Rehabilitation Center announced in a Facebook post that their founder Jean Beasley has died.
The post goes on to say that Beasley died surrounded by loved ones early Tuesday morning.
Beasley founded the turtle hospital in 1998 in memory of her late daughter Karen Beasley.
In the post, the rehabilitation said, “Mrs. Jean, thank you for sharing your dreams with us. You inspired us to create a better world for the turtles, for Mother Ocean and for all.”
Beasley retired in the spring of 2021 at the age of 85 after being in the turtle business for more than four decades.
In 2022, Beasley received the Thomas L. Quay Wildlife Diversity Award.
