Man arrested for allegedly selling drugs in New Hanover County

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man after a traffic stop for allegedly selling illegal drugs in the Wilmington area.
On December 16th, 2025, a traffic stop was conducted on 26-year-old Austin Williams of Wilmington. During the stop, a large quantity of Xanax was seized and he was arrested.
Over 1,656 Xanax pills, about 9 grams of oxycodone, about 34 grams of liquid methadone, about 35 grams of marijuana, three handguns one of which was reported stolen, and one shotgun were found during the search.
Williams has been charged with trafficking in opium, possession of a firearm by a felon, and multiple drug charges.
Williams was given a $1,052,000 secured bond.
