SOUTHPORT, N.C. (WWAY) — The Franklin Square Gallery in Southport is celebrating 50 years of exhibiting fine art.

To commemorate this achievement, the Associated Artists of Southport (“AAS”) are inviting new pieces of art and new artists to join the association, and the gallery.

There will be a reception held on March 22, from 2-4 p.m.

Painters, photographers, potters, and sculptors are invited to attend. They will be able to learn about the AAS community and mission, discuss AAS membership and its benefits, tour the historic gallery, and meet current members, all while enjoying complimentary hors d’oeuvres and beverages.

If interested in attending, artists should reach out to AAS Vice President Charleea Yarbrough at charleeabarrett39@gmail.com.

AAS is a non-profit organization dedicated to the cultural enrichment of Southport and its surrounding communities. As such, in addition to exhibiting the art of its members and hosting regional art shows, AAS engages in charitable community outreach and provides educational programs for all ages for both its members and the community to foster a better understanding of the fine arts.

Franklin Square Gallery, the home of AAS, is located at 130 E. West Street in the heart of historic downtown Southport, NC. With support from the Brunswick Arts Council ARPA Program, a Designated County Partner of the North Carolina Arts Council, the Gallery embodies the rich artistic culture that thrives in Southport. It offers original 2D and 3D art for sale and is open to the public, free of charge, from 10 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday.
