WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Country and gospel legends The Oak Ridge Boys are set to bring their signature harmonies and decades of hits to Wilmington this summer.

The group will perform at the Wilson Center at Cape Fear Community College on Friday, August 7, 2026 as part of their “Celebrating Route 66” tour.

Known for their distinctive four-part harmonies and energetic performances, The Oak Ridge Boys have built a career spanning more than 50 years. Their catalog includes dozens of country hits and crossover successes, including fan favorites like “Elvira,” “Bobbie Sue,” “Thank God for Kids,” and “American Made.”

The current lineup features Duane Allen, William Lee Golden, Richard Sterban, and tenor Ben James. Over the years, the group has earned numerous accolades, including Grammy, CMA, ACM, and Dove awards, along with induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2015.

“We’re not willing to rest on our laurels,” Golden said in a statement. “As a group, we do things constantly to challenge ourselves, to try to do something different or better than the last time we did it.”

Formed in 1945 as the Oak Ridge Quartet in Tennessee, the group has evolved into one of the most enduring acts in country music, blending elements of gospel, pop, and rock throughout their career. They have also collaborated with artists such as Johnny Cash, Ray Charles, and Paul Simon.

Tickets for the Wilmington performance will be available to Wilson Center members beginning Wednesday, April 22 at 10 a.m., with general public sales opening Thursday, April 23 at 10 a.m. Officials encourage buyers to purchase tickets directly through the Wilson Center to avoid potential scams.

Organizers say audiences can expect a high-energy show filled with timeless music and the classic sound that has defined The Oak Ridge Boys for generations.
