WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Visitors to Riverfront Park will soon notice a new look as the City of Wilmington moves forward with improvements around the Live Oak Bank Pavilion.

The City of Wilmington and Live Nation are partnering on a $100,000 project to install a permanent fence around the concert venue, replacing the temporary fencing currently used during events.

City officials say the upgrade is designed to improve both the appearance and functionality of one of Wilmington’s most popular public spaces. The permanent fencing will better define the park’s event areas while enhancing safety by creating a physical barrier between the children’s playground and nearby North Front Street.

The project is also expected to streamline operations for concerts and community events. By replacing temporary fencing, crews will no longer need to repeatedly install and remove barriers before and after performances, reducing setup and breakdown time while minimizing wear and tear on the park.

Officials say the improvements will create a more seamless experience for both everyday park visitors and concertgoers, while maintaining Riverfront Park as a welcoming waterfront destination.

The fencing project is a joint effort between the City of Wilmington and Live Nation, the operator of Live Oak Bank Pavilion, and reflects continued investment in the city’s growing riverfront entertainment district.

Construction is expected to give the pavilion area a refreshed appearance while supporting the park’s dual role as both a community gathering space and a premier outdoor concert venue.
