Novant Health announces plan for faster appointments for State Health Plan members in 2027

NORTH CAROLINA (WWAY) — Novant Health announced a new measure its taking to make it easier for North Carolina State Health Plan members to access care at the plan’s “Preferred” lowest-cost tier. The move would ensure new-patient appointments occur within 10 days.

The 10-day appointment plan gives State Health Plan members a direct path to care when they need to establish a relationship with a new provider.

“As one of only two Preferred health systems in the North Carolina State Health Plan, Novant Health is proud to care for the people who serve our state,” said Bill Schiff, Novant Health’s senior vice president. “We want State Health Plan members to know they can count on us not only for high-quality, affordable care, but also for timely access at the lowest cost.”

Beginning January 1, 2027, Novant Health and UNC Health will be the only Preferred Providers for the State Health Plan, giving members access to Novant Health’s North Carolina network of 18 hospitals, more than 700 clinics and robust virtual care services.
