A what? Police respond to kangaroo on the loose in South Carolina

Early Tuesday morning, officers in McCormick County got a call about a unusual animal in the road: A kangaroo hopping around the highway.

“I thought dispatch was joking,” the responding officer recalls.

The McCormick County Sheriff’s Office located the kangaroo in the Clarks Hill area, near the South Carolina-Georgia border.

“When you get dispatched to an animal in the road and this is what you find,” the department wrote along with a photo of the kangaroo on its Facebook page.

Two officers had the task of keeping the kangaroo out of the road to not get hit by any vehicles
