After alert by K9 Deputy, two people arrested on drug charges

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — According to the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office, two people were arrested for trafficking methamphetamine.

35-year-old, Deanna Poteet and 39-year-old, Carl Scott were arrested during a traffic stop.

The Sheriff’s Office Vice/Narcotics Unit conducted an investigating when Deputy K9 Axel indicated there were drugs in the vehicle.

During the stop, 14 ounces of methamphetamine were seized. The sheriff’s office said Scott is a “well-known drug trafficker in the Wilmington area.”

Poteet and Scott were both charged with trafficking methamphetamine. Poteet is being held on a $501,000 bond and $1.3 million bond.
