Authorities work to ID body found in Lake Murray

NEWBERRY, SC (AP) — Newberry County authorities are working to identify the body of a woman found in Lake Murray.

Local media outlets report deputies had been called to a home Sunday morning. The woman’s body was found in four feet of water at around 7:15 a.m., about 10 feet from the shore. She was wearing a bathing suit.

Sheriff Lee Foster says he doesn’t believe foul play was involved in the woman’s death and there were no signs of trauma to her body. Foster says it appears the woman went out for a swim and didn’t come back.
