Award-winning actor and comedian to perform at Wilson Center Friday

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Emmy Award-winning comedian and actor JB Smoove is set to perform in Wilmington this week.

Smoove is best known for his role as Leon Black in the hit HBO series Curb Your Enthusiasm. He’ll be performing at Cape Fear Community College’s Wilson Center this Friday.

Smoove was born in Plymouth, North Carolina, and raised in Mount Vernon, New York. His performance in ‘Curb’ earned him an NAACP Image Award nomination in 2012 and a SAG Award nomination in 2018.

In addition to his role on Curb Your Enthusiasm, Smoove’s television career includes writing for the iconic Saturday Night Live, where he received a 2007 Writers Guild of America Award for Best Comedy/Variety Series. He has also appeared in a variety of television shows, including Everybody Hates Chris, The Millers, Fresh Off the Boat, The Last O.G., and Real Husbands of Hollywood.

Smoove also serves on the board of the Mount Vernon Boys and Girls Club and has been inducted into the Boys & Girls Club National Alumni Hall of Fame.
