BB&T Jamboree luncheon pairs friends with football
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — There might not be anything better than bringing friends, old and new, together to talk a little football.
For the past countless years, that’s where the BB&T Jamboree luncheon comes in.
Coaches, players and media were in attendance for this annual affair of food and football.
For the past 32 years, the jamboree marked the start of football season in the Cape Fear featuring three schools from Brunswick County, 4 from New Hanover, 2 from Columbus County and of course Wallace-Rose Hill.
The luncheon gives the coaches the chance to talk before the real fun begins Friday at Legion Stadium in Wilmington.
“You can run them all you want to run them and lift them all you want to lift them, but when you put helmet and shoulder pads on a kid and his hitting people in the mouth and getting hit, it’s different,” Wallace-Rose Hill Head Coach Kevin Mottsinger said. “I feel like all of us are a little behind so we just have to use good wisdom and good judgement. But you still have to get them ready.”
Here’s the schedule for the games that begin at 5:30 p.m. Friday Aug. 10:
Laney vs. North Brunswick
West Brunswick vs. Hoggard
Whiteville vs. Ashley
South Columbus vs. South Brunswick
Wallace-Rose Hill vs. New Hanover
We’ll have all the highlights after the action on our first 5th Quarter of the season.
