Winter weather impacting school districts, colleges in the Cape Fear

SOUTHEASTERN NC (WWAY) — The threat of winter weather is impacting local school districts this week.

  • Brunswick County Schools moves to remote learning on Thursday.
  • Pender County Schools will operate on a remote learning schedule on Thursday, Penderlea School and Pender Early College will utilize snow days on Thursday.
  • New Hanover County Schools will be remote on Thursday.
  • Bladen County Schools will remain closed on Thursday.  There will be no remote learning for students and staff will receive an update regarding work from the superintendent this evening.  Additionally, all after-school activities and events scheduled for tomorrow are canceled.
  • Columbus County Schools will be closed on Thursday. There will be no remote instruction. All after-school activities are canceled.
  • Whiteville City Schools will be closed for students and staff on Thursday.
  • Cape Fear Academy will operate on a 2 hour delay Thursday.

 

  • UNCW classes scheduled before 12:30pm on Thursday are cancelled.
  • Brunswick Community College will open at 2pm Thursday.
  • Southeastern Community College will operate on a three-hour delay on Thursday, with classes beginning at 11 a.m.
