Boil water advisory issued in Surf City following water main break

SURF CITY, NC (WWAY) — A boil water advisory is in effect for a large portion of Surf City after a water main break on Friday.

According to a Facebook post from the Town of Surf City, the water service was restored just before 1:00 p.m. The post said there is a water boil advisory on the Island for all streets south of Roland for the next 24 hours.

The Town of Surf City said there was a water main break in the south end of the island. As a result, water service was temporarily disrupted in the affected area.

The boil water advisory means it is important to boil any water used for drinking, cooking, or brushing teeth until further notice. The town said this precautionary measure is necessary to ensure the community’s safety.

The town said it will provide regular updates on the situation on its pages.
