Bonds for Leland town hall expansion approved

LELAND, NC (WWAY) — The North Carolina Local Government Commission approved bonds for the proposed expansion of Leland Town Hall.

The town will receive $13.5 million in limited obligation bonds to renovate the town hall and make it bigger.

The town hall expansion has seen backlash at several town meetings, with some residents saying such an expansion is not needed.

The Local Government Commission itself received more than 150 public comments about the request, with a majority of those in opposition to the project.
