Boy recovering from shark bite in Surf City
SURF CITY, NC (WWAY) — An eight-year-old boy is recovering tonight from a shark bite in Surf City.
Police said it happened Wednesday afternoon near the 700 block of South Shore Drive. They said emergency personnel treated the wounds at the scene, but the boy’s parents took him to the emergency room as a precaution.
Thursday, Chris Noyes told WRAL his son Brady was released from the hospital.
Noyes said Brady was facing the shore and standing knee-deep in the water about 20 yards away from other children playing in the water. That’s when he said the shark came up from behind. Noyes said Brady screamed, but he didn’t immediately know what happened because he never saw the shark coming.
Noyes said Brady was released from the hospital and he is in good spirits. He said Brady won’t go back into the water in the coming days, because he needs to keep his wound clean and wrapped. He said Brady will go back though.
