Brewery bringing back beer to help Battleship

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The USS Battleship North Carolina continues to get help from the community to raise enough money to fix its hull.

The Front Street Brewery announced their plans to serve the Battleship Pale Ale to help fund the restoration. It begins on Memorial Day. Head Brewer Kelsie Cole said they started doing this last year to help out the local community and she says they chose this particular brew for a reason.

“We use Pacific gem hops, which are a New Zealand varietal that are very, tropical very fruity,” Cole said. “We actually dry hop the beer. We chose pacific gem hops because the Battleship did fight in WWII in the Pacific Ccean and so we found it fitting.”

Cole added last year they raised about $2,500 for the Battleship with the beer.
