BOLIVIA, NC (WWAY) — Brunswick County Schools says teachers should benefit in the next school year if state leaders can agree on a budget.

Brunswick County Schools anticipates all BCS staff will receive raises in the 2024-2025 fiscal year North Carolina state budget.

At today’s Finance Committee Meeting, the Brunswick County Board of Education unanimously approved a list of recommended initiatives for the 2024-2025 school year.

Teacher supplements will be increased by $1,200, moving Brunswick County’s teacher supplement into the top 10 in the State. Supplements for Assistant Principals and Principals were increased, moving them into the top 15 in the State.

All other permanent staff who remain actively employed as of September 30, 2024, will receive a one-time classified employee retention award. Staff employed before January 1, 2024, will receive 2% of their 2023-2024 base salary, while staff hired between January 1, 2024, and June 30, 2024, will receive 1% of their 2023-2024 base salary.

In addition, the Brunswick County Board of Education approved a number of student support positions to address needs identified in the district’s comprehensive needs assessment.

Once the budget is passed, there will be more information shared on these potential raises.
