Brunswick County Schools buys land in Leland for potential new school

BOLIVIA, NC (WWAY) — A new school may be coming to the Leland area of Brunswick County.
At the Brunswick County Board of Education meeting on Tuesday, Sep. 3, the Board approved the purchase of land at Jackey’s Creek near the Brunswick Forest area.
The 64-acre property will cost roughly $95,000 per acre.
The land will serve as a home to a future elementary school for 750 students. It will alleviate capacity issues at Lincoln Elementary School, Belville Elementary School, and Town Creek Elementary School.
Brunswick County Schools aims to open the new school by the 2028 school year.
