Cameron Art Museum’s ‘Doodle Jam’ celebrates imperfect art and pure fun
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Artists off all ages laughed and drew at the Cameron Art Museum Saturday for the Doodle Jam.
The community event reminded people to let loose and that art is for everyone. Participants were tasked with drawing a CAM mascot and also drawing someone else without looking at the paper.
‘Doodleist’ Greyson Davis hosted the event.
He said the intention is to celebrate imperfections and take the pressure off of people.
“The idea that like everything has to be top notch. There’s a time and a place for that but also allow yourself to still be a kid. Allow yourself to have fun. Allow yourself to joke. Allow yourself to give yourself a break,” Davis said.
Davis adds that art is something everyone did as a kid and as we grow up that we forget it can be fun, and we worry about making it perfect. He said this message should be applied to the real world.
